Dog Training that supports both ends of the leash.
Dog training that focuses on why behavior exists — not just how to stop it.
At A Fetchin’ Good Time, I look beyond surface behavior to understand what’s actually causing it. Most behavior issues come from stress, confusion, or unclear boundaries not because a dog is stubborn or “untrained.”
We focus on lowering stress, setting clear limits, and changing what the dog is dealing with day to day.
This work isn’t about control or perfection. It’s about clarity, consistency, and creating a daily life that’s easier for your dog to handle.

Ren/Aja
“We feel so lucky to have found Ashley. When we adopted Aja, we quickly realized we had an incredibly smart and energetic dog on our hands—and no idea how to guide her. From our very first session, it was clear that Ashley was the perfect fit for us and for Aja.
Ashley’s approach isn’t about rigid obedience—it’s about building a real, respectful relationship with your dog. She’s helped us learn how to read Aja’s cues, communicate more clearly, and lead with confidence and compassion rather than control or fear. Thanks to Ashley, we’ve made huge progress on things like leash pulling, reactivity, and separation anxiety—and more importantly, our bond with Aja has grown so much deeper.
Every session with Ashley leaves us with clear, actionable next steps, and she always follows up to check on how we’re doing. She’s incredibly thoughtful about pacing, never pushing us or Aja too fast, and always knowing when we’re ready for the next challenge.
One of the things we appreciate most is how much she understands that she’s training humans just as much as dogs. She’s so encouraging and supportive—not just to Aja, but to us as well. If you’re looking for a trainer who will help you build a lasting, loving, and respectful relationship with your dog, Ashley is it.” -
Taylor L/ Sarah
“Seeking help from Ashley in training my GSD, Sarah, was the BEST decision! Sarah came to me when she was 3 years old and we were trying to navigate pretty extreme reactivity. She’d bark and lunge at people, other dogs, and pull me along on the walks. I wanted nothing more than to have my walking/hiking/do everything companion! I also knew that we needed help to get there.
After much searching for the right trainer, I made a consultation appointment with Ashley. We have been working with her for 6 months now and it is more than worth the 1.5 hour drive for us. She encouraged me that I could do this and coached me on leash training, getting Sarah out of the car, and how to handle on leash reactions to name a few.
Essentially, Ashley has taught me how to integrate many little aspects of instilling calm expectations for Sarah into our daily life. It has also been a wonderful internal journey for me! I have learned to be in tune with myself and recognize aspects of training that are my own insecurities that are traveling down the leash to Sarah. Ashley has been incredibly supportive, is a great listener, and a knowledgeable teacher.
Sarah and I are now doing 3 mile loose leash walks in our busy neighborhood (something I used to day dream about) and we are so excited to start some in public training at Home Depot soon! Dreams come true with hard work and supportive guidance. Thank you, Ashley!” -

“When we adopted our puggy from a sad and dangerous situation, we knew with some tlc and stability she could thrive with us. The goal was for her to be a companion and a shop dog. After 1 year, we realized we were not communicating with her and her anxiety was turning her into a bully. We decided to reach out to Ashley and made the investment in her board and train to help us connect with our dog and meet our goals. It’s been a total 180 for all of us. I’d say it’s been a delightful experience and success. We learned so much and our dog is showing less anxiety. She can be at the shop. And we have the tools to continue to support the positive change in our dog and us. I highly recommend and encourage a training by Ashley. She communicates, teaches, and sets a path to meet the goals of your pet’s and your life.”

“I'm not a trainer, but I've been training my own dog for years and have worked with a lot of them so I have a good sense of what's out there and unfortunately there are a lot of clowns - NOT Ashley - went to her originally just for a little help socializing my reactive puppy but she recognized a fundamentals I had missed and taught me a new technique to fix it. It's represented a huge breakthrough not just for the puppy but my other dog as well. Super knowledgeable, great teacher, highly recommend!”

Mariana/Archer
“Words cannot express how amazing Ashley is! She’s helped us with both our pups (Nala who I adopted a few years ago and Archer (Buddy) who she actually fostered before we adopted him). She taught us how to be the best pup parents and support each pup in the way they each need. I didn’t really know a lot about proper dog training and their behavior and reading their body language, but Ashley is so knowledgeable and truly helped me learn so much and foster a better relationship with both our dogs. They both love her and have been doing so well. Highly recommend A Fetchin Good Time to anyone who needs a dog trainer! Ashley is emphatic and kind and no judgmental and truly cares deeply about the people and pups she helps! You will be in amazing hands!”

Choppa
“Ashley is absolutely amazing! We were looking for some help with our very stubborn, strong-willed Frenchy and found exactly that with Ashley. She is a no non-sense trainer in the best way. Throughout his training Ashley kept us well informed of his progress and sent him home with helpful tools that have aided in our success in keeping him sharp. These tools coupled with being available to give advice when needed has helped us tremendously since Choppa has been home.”

“Ashley transformed our Golden Retriever puppy Scout! She not only taught him basic skills with a great foundation but took the time to teach us so we could keep up the training. She also gave a great refresher course for our older Doodle -”

Destiny/Ace
“Ashley has truly saved our lives by training our Pitbull Ace, who’s 7. Ace was impossible to walk, as he pulled every which way and was very heavy footed. Ace had no sense of personal space, and now we have the tools to show him when it’s appropriate to snuggle and also how to “turn it off”. Ace would greet everyone by jumping on them, giving as many kisses as possible. We haven’t seen him jump up in months!!! Truly has saved our mental state and now we can have our friends over without worrying about him. Ashley taught Ace how to LOVE his crate and honestly he prefers it. We will find him in it randomly through out the day which is something he didn’t do before we went to her. Most importantly Ashley worked with both my husband and I to feel confident with working with Ace. She is so knowledgeable and explains it so well. I truly can’t recommend her enough. Guess you CAN teach an old dog new tricks!”

“I recently got a high-energy rescue puppy, thinking it wouldn’t be that hard to train her on my own, and boy was I wrong! I quickly realized I was in over my head and put out feelers to local trainers.
Lucky for me, Ashley of A Fetchin’ Good Time got back to me and she was just what I needed! She is not only a thoughtful, practical dog trainer, but she is sensitive to the needs of the owner. We did private lessons and a period of board-and-train, in which I was involved daily. As new issues arise, Ashley is available for further sessions, and I feel like she’s a partner in my journey.
Before we started working together I had been considering returning my pup to the rescue - now I’m on my way to enjoying my time with her, and pretty confident she’ll grow up to be a happy, well-behaved dog!” -
Abigail/Molly
“We’ve been taking our molly girl here for hourly training and she absolutely loves it! She has learned so many things like place, heel, walking with a stroller next to her, containing her excitement, waiting at thresholds and more. She has made such great progress here and at home. Communication was always clear, the rate was more than fair, and she always went above and beyond with Molly and with helping us practice at home. We would recommend her for anyone looking for a trainer or dog sitter - they will be well taken care of!”

“Ashley is a fantastic trainer! We have a very feisty schnauzer and we were feeling overwhelmed when it came to his socialization/training. Ashley provided simple instructions and guidance and it has helped quite a bit! We will continue to use these tips for his daily training sessions. I would recommend her to anyone seeking a knowledgable dog trainer in the 29Palms/Joshua Tree/Yucca Valley area!”

Stephanie M./Athena
“Ashley was the BEST decision we could of made for our 2.5 year old German Shepard!
We had been wanting to get Athena into training for months but we were scared that no one would be able to handle her extreme reactivity/she would be too old to learn. Ashley talked us through all of our concerns and made us feel extremely comfortable + confident in our decision to have Athena do a 3 week board and train! During the 3 weeks, Ashley sent us continuous updates about how Athena was doing and explained step by step what she was doing so that we would have the proper tools to continue her training once Athena came home.
I can confidently say Athena is WAY better after returning from Ashley’s board and train. We have already seen amazing progress with her walking manners, including smaller reactions to things that would of totally set her off in the past and her place training is something we have always dreamed of!
We honestly can not thank Ashley enough for the time/patience she took while working with Athena! If you have been debating booking any type of training for your dog, I would recommend Ashley 100 times because she is absolutely worth it!” -
Sarah I/Vinny
“I am am so very blessed that we found Ashley. She has helped me to create a bond with my pup who was very nervous and becoming aggressive towards my other dogs. I was so scared and worried that if things didn't get better we may have not be able to keep him but I couldn't give up. We sent Vinny to board and train with her and was the best decision we could have made for him. He has come so far and has learned so much. I have learned so much. It's been about 2 months and he has come a long way. Though this will be a life long journey for the both of us, I don't think I could have done this without help. Ashley was always available to answer my millions of questions and patient with me and my concerns. Her knowledge and dedication is amazing and she really knows what she is doing . Thank you so so much Ashley ! We look forward to keeping in touch and boarding with you in the future!”
